BPMN for business process analysis

The Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is a graphical specification language in business computer science. It provides graphical symbols so that business and computer science specialists can perform modeling of business processes

SemTalk contains multiple versions of BPMN. In practice, most used is a small subset of BPMN 1.1. There is also a BPMN 2.0 version, which supports for example choreography. With SemTalk all shapes and functions of the Visio Premium BPMN template can be used.

SemTalk includes interfaces for export to BizTalk and XPDL 1.1/1.2 and BPMN 2.0 XML. Besides that XAML workflows can be generated for SharePoint Desinger.

BPMN was introduced in 2002 by Stephen A. White, working for IBM. It was developed and defined by the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI), an organization that set the standard for business process modeling. It was taken over in June 2005 by the Object Management Group (OMG) for further care. Since 2006, OMG BPMN is therefore officially a standard. As the name suggests, the emphasis is on the BPMN notation, that is, on the graphical representation of business processes
